Even more Ghostbusters: *sings* We ain't afraid of... selling out completely

Oh!-pinions news

Remember when I called the new all-female Ghostbusters opportunistic bullshit attempting to make a buck off the back of equal opportunity/rights issues?  Well I was wrong...

'Cause Ghostbusters is trying to make a buck out of anything, anyway it can!

Let's face facts.  Hollywood cares about one thing and one thing alone, hookers and blow and that's making tonnes of money.

If the last 15 years of movie re-making and sequel-ising has taught us anything its that the American film-making industry sold it soul a long time ago and it's perfectly content with that.  I mean when you turn a turd like the conclusion of the Twilight saga into two halves, that's when you can officially rename your movie into "Franchise X:The bid for moar money".  Ghostbusters is just the latest franchise to suffer this ignominy.

Word from Sony is that not only will there be an all-female reboot, there will also be an all-male reboot featuring Channing Tatum... and a TV series, and new merchandise and...

Here's the word from the horses ass mouth himself, Ivan Reitman:

“We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment. This is a branded entertainment, a scary supernatural premise mixed with comedy. Paul Feig’s film will be the first version of that, shooting in June to come out in July 2016. He’s got four of the funniest women in the world, and there will be other surprises to come. The second film has a wonderful idea that builds on that. Drew will start writing and the hope is to be ready for the Russo Brothers’ next window next summer to shoot, with the movie coming out the following year. It’s just the beginning of what I hope will be a lot of wonderful movies.”
